Share Article During the past 36 years we've seen a great deal of change, but there has always been one constant: the people of Genesee County had Congressman Dale Kildee on their side. Last Friday, Representative Kildee announced he would not seek a 19th term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
His retirement is bittersweet - we are sad to lose a pillar of our community, but are happy for the Congressman and his family.
Congressman Kildee took our hardworking values with him to Congress, casting 99.9% of all votes during his
US Rep. Dale Kildee, 1971 Source: Flint Journal career. Democratic Party Chair Art Reyes said that Congressman Kildee is “a great man and he’s been an inspiration to so many of us.”
Some Highlights:
President Obama: “For more than 30 years, Dale Kildee has never forgotten the people he represents or what drives his work in the United States Congress. As a teacher, state legislator and Congressman, Dale made fighting for the families he represents his top priority and worked to improve education in Michigan and across the nation. We will miss Dale’s voice in Congress. Michelle and I wish him well and join the people of Michigan in thanking him for his many years of service”
State Rep. Jim Ananich: “He's been a champion for our community for many years.”
Mayor Dayne Walling: “Congressman Kildee has been a leader in education, human rights, and social justice. Our community has benefitted time and time again from his wisdom, dedication and hard work.”
